my interest

Man and his eroticism. Complementing contrasts. Attracting and rejecting extremes: man – woman,
near – far off, good – bad, creation – destruction, life – death.

Working with clay is a magic event.
My sculptures grow between reality and abstraction. Naturalistic forms develop into universal forms which express the mysteries of fertility, life, birth and death.
Torsos abstract to steles and idols, signs of potency as sign of man.
Coming into being these signs of life seem to be signs of memory too.

Places where steles are erected, are often places of life and death. They are places of renewal: the old transfers to the new. >

The triangle as universal symbol.
The Indian Goddess Kali as goddess of destruction αnd as goddess of fertility and life, is represented in the triangle with the top above.
Pythagoras considers the triangle a symbol for universal fertility. The most complete symbols for male and female we find in the triangle with top up and the triangle with top down.In the hexagram, 'seal of Salomon', Star of David, the Jewish Star, these two triangles shoved in one, express male and female energy meltdown. These two triangles in one is the Western variation of the Chinese yin-yang.
AUM is represented as two triangles in one with a point in it.

Working in my studio, material tells me about forms and awakes my interest.
